Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a game combining two iconic puzzle game brands: Tetris and Puyo Puyo. The game is a sequel to Puyo Puyo Tetris from 2014, which was warmly welcomed by critics. The game was produced by Sonic Team, the creators of the first installment of this sub-series.
According to the title, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a mix of Puyo Puyo and Tetris. From the first of these series comes the mechanics of connecting the jellies (title Puyo) into combinations of at least four elements of the same color. In practice, we try to direct the Puyo coming from above in such a way as to trigger a chain reaction in one move and gain more points and, if we fight another player or artificial intelligence, send useless "junk" Puyo to the opponent's board. In a similar way we disturb our rival by laying horizontal lines like in Tetris. The game ends when the player's board is completely full and there is no possibility to make another move.
In the second installment of Puyo Puyo Tetris, all the attractions from the original are back, including a new incarnation of Adventure and local and online multiplayer variants, allowing up to four players to play together. A novelty is the Skill Battle mode, in which - as in RPG productions - we control a three-person team of characters with different skills and strengthen them with items. In addition, the Sonic Team made it possible to play the "ordinary" classic Tetris or Puyo Puyo, without elements from the other series.
Like its predecessor, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is based on a colorful, two-dimensional graphic design. The gameplay is varied by a wide range of special effects and animations accompanying the game.
