Raubritter is a sandbox cross between an RPG and a strategy game with life sim elements. It was developed by a Polish indie studio Sartorian, alongside its other projects, such as Farathan and Tales of Anturia: Heistos.

Plot

Raubritter is set in a medieval world. Our playable character can either be a virtuous knight, or one of the titular raubritters. These were bandit knights who made a living by robbing merchants and travelers; they often operated in well-organized groups and even owned their own castles. It's up to us who exactly we'll be.

Mechanics

Raubritter is a first-person game, in which we can freely choose our playstyle. We can either peacefully develop our land or, as befitting a raubritter, rob and mug others. Regardless of our chosen path, we must acquire valuable resources and construct buildings. At first, we're limited to wooden huts, later to stone buildings; as our treasury and warehouses fill, we'll eventually be able to afford our own fortress.

Building it is important, as even if we try to live peacefully, sooner or later we will be targeted by enemies. Combat is fast-paced, taking place both in melee and at range. We also don't need to fight alone. NPCs can be employed for work or recruited to our army, to defend our lands or conquer the lands of other lords. As we progress through the game, we develop the protagonist and face greater challenges.

Game modes

Raubritter supports singleplayer and online co-op.

Technical aspects

Raubritter features devent visuals. The detailed, densely vegetated areas are especially appealing.
