Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos is an RPG enriched with elements of the roguelike genre. The game was developed by an independent team Heliocentric Studios and was published by Team17.

Plot

Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos takes us to the land of Tasos. After the terrifying Titans were imprisoned in the Great Dungeons with ancient seals, its inhabitants can now breathe with relief. However, as time passed, the seals began to lose their power, making the minions of the Titans once again boldly roam Tasos. So the powerless goddesses began searching for a team of heroes who would be willing to explore the dungeons and face the evil that live there. Fortunately, in the end four brave men were found who were ready to risk their lives to save Tasos from the inevitable destruction.

Mechanics

In Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos the action is shown from a top-down view. During the game we take control over four heroes representing different classes and having different abilities. Among them we can find a witch, a pirate, a mage and a guardian.

During the game we are mainly dealing with exploring the underground and fighting dynamic battles with hordes of enemies. In addition, from time to time we solve environmental puzzles and look for keys that open the further way. Deep dungeons connect hand-designed rooms full of traps and enemies, and their layout is generated randomly. This makes each trip to the dungeon different and challenging. This is important because after death we have to repeat the journey.

Of course, heroes are not defenseless. We eliminate enemies using cold and ranged weapons (such as swords, bows or boomerangs), as well as all kinds of spells. The loot gained in dungeons can be used to buy new equipment for the heroes or to develop the village of Intori which is their base. By constructing new buildings and upgrading those already constructed, we gain access to more advanced equipment, which can be purchased in the workshops. In addition, over time we develop our heroes, improving their statistics and acquiring new abilities.

In between dungeon-crawling you can enjoy stress-relieving side activities such as fishing, farming or exploring the picturesque surroundings of Intori village.

Game modes

Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos can be played solo or in co-op mode for up to four players. In addition to the epic story campaign, a so-called infinite dungeon awaits to be tested, in which we face endless hordes of enemies, traps and puzzles.
