Release Date: November 11, 2025
A refreshed version of the second installment of the cult action RPG, originally released in 2008. Sacred 2 Remaster features greatly improved graphics, modified combat system and UI, as well as various fixes related to the gameplay balance and the removal of technical issues.
The first two installments of the Sacred series were warmly received by players and reviewers. However, over time, the brand began to lose its former luster, gradually falling into oblivion. After years, the studio SparklingBit, founded by Franz Stradal (considered the "father" of Sacred), decided to remind players about it by creating a thoroughly refreshed version of the second part of this series, namely Sacred 2 Remaster.
What stands out the most in Sacred 2 Remaster are the refreshed graphics. The developers focused on the textures and increased their resolution, applied new shaders, significantly increased the drawing range, and also improved the lighting and shadows. In addition, they have modified the user interface, making it more transparent and intuitive.
The developers have also overhauled the combat system, making it more responsive and speeding up the battles. A number of other improvements were introduced, covering both gameplay balance and technical issues. Many of them were implemented thanks to the work with fans.
The icing on the cake is the implementation of the content of all patches and add-ons released for the original.
The core gameplay in Sacred 2 Remaster remains unchanged from the original. We are still dealing with an action RPG with an open world, which gives us two story campaigns allowing us to stand on the side of light or shadow.
We embody one of the diverse characters in the game. While the Seraphim is available exclusively in the good campaign, the Inquisitor represents the forces of evil. The remaining heroes, namely the High Elf, Temple Guardian, Dryad, Shadow Warrior and Dragon Mage (introduced in the Dragon Lord expansion), are universal.
Watching the events in an isometric view, we explore the fantasy land of Ankara (on foot or on horseback), get to know its inhabitants, complete quests, and also engage in numerous battles with opponents. As we progress, we accumulate better equipment and develop our character, which allows us to face increasingly bigger challenges over time.
Sacred 2 Remaster offers the possibility of online multiplayer only on PC. We can only play alone in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

Game Ratings for Sacred 2 Remaster Video Game.
Analog Stick Gaming: 4 / 10 by Jeff M Young
While it was somewhat commonplace back then to overlook so many of the original’s issues, it is downright impossible now with the wealth of titles releasing every day. Sacred 2 deserved a much better effort, and this is frankly one of the most disappointing remasters in recent history.
GameSpew: 5 / 10 by Richard Seagrave
There's some fun to be had with Sacred 2 Remaster, but on the whole it's a disappointing update of a classic RPG. Newcomers will find many aspects of it bewildering, using skills with a controller is overly fiddly and, worst of all, multiplayer isn't an option on consoles. Much more should have been done to bring this classic up to date.
MKAU Gaming: 7.5 / 10 by James Fraser-Smith
It’s been over a decade since Sacred 2: Fallen Angel first rolled out its sprawling world of Ancaria, a blend of swords, sorcery, and unapologetic eccentricity. Now, developers Ascaron / THQ Nordic have applied their own Ancaria magic and given life to Sacred 2 once more. The Sacred 2 Remaster, like most modern remasters, aims to recapture nostalgia while keeping the original’s mix of high fantasy and tongue-in-cheek humour, all the while bringing it to the modern PC’s main stage.
