Samurai Bringer is a hack'n'slash with roguelike elements. It was developed by independent studio Alphawing and published by Playism.

Plot

Samurai Bringer takes us on a journey to a fantastic world inspired by Japanese mythology and history. The main character of the game is Susanoo - the god of storms and seas - who challenged the Yamata-no-Orochi in order to save a sacrificed Kushinada. The protagonist loses the duel and his powers, but is saved at the last moment by Amaterasu. Thanks to the help of the sun goddess, the hero reaches the land of Nakatsukuni, where he is to be put to the test of strength. Facing increasingly powerful opponents, led by the most famous samurai, Susano will be able to regain his lost power and once again stand face to face with his arch-enemy.

Game mechanics

In Samurai Bringer we watch the action in isometric view. Adventure leads us through various locations, where we fight with hordes of enemies. During dynamic battles we use cold weapons and divine powers of Susanoo. Among the enemies we have to face there are more than a hundred heroes of legends and warriors from Japanese history, such as Nobunaga Oda, Masamune Date or Yukimura Sanada.

As we progress, we develop the protagonist. Eliminating hordes of demons and samurai, we gain the Combat Scrolls. They give us access to a variety of techniques - from relatively simple ones, like cutting, pushing or jumping attack, to more sophisticated ones, like pirouettes or fire attacks - which we can combine in deadly combinations. In addition, after defeating one of the most powerful opponents we get his weapons, which not only look good, but also guarantee us various buffs.

What's true is that after death we don't lose everything we've gained, but the levels are generated procedurally. This means that each visit to a given place is connected with the need to face new challenges and learn a new layout of the location's elements, while providing an opportunity to acquire previously unavailable Combat Scrolls.
