Fancy Factory is a one-person development studio from Germany. The developer operating under this name, Axel Friedrich, began releasing small games in 2008. Scott Whiskers: the Search for the Golden Cat is the second installment in a series of classic point-and-click adventure games centered around cats. Releasing this indie title was made possible through crowdfunding.

Gameplay

The next humorous adventure of the specialist in finding stray cats takes place in Central America. In line with the genre's tradition, the gameplay involves exploring locations (of which there are about fifty), talking to NPCs, and solving logical puzzles. The latter are related to submerged Mayan ruins, requiring our hero to embark on underwater journeys.

In Scott Whiskers: the Search for the Golden Cat, we get to explore pirate shipwrecks, traverse the claustrophobic cave system of an active volcano, and even witness stories about exotic monstrous fleas. Besides combining inventory items through unconventional thinking, we engage in completing minigames.

The option to display so-called hotspots aids in collecting items for the backpack. There is also a journal that helps us in following the story. The game features voice acting in English and German.

Story

Experienced in finding lost cats, Scott Whiskers decides to locate the golden cat figurine, whose twin was considered a relic by the inhabitants of a Central American village. The vacationer must race against time, as the volcanic area is plagued by various misfortunes and poor harvests.

Technical aspects

Developed on the Unity engine, Scott Whiskers: the Search for the Golden Cat features two-and-a-half-dimensional graphics, manifested in hand-drawn 2D backgrounds and characters rendered in 3D.
