SkyKeepers PC

SkyKeepers, a side-scroller action game and platfomer hybrid, is a debut of an indie studio called Sword Twin Studios located in Vancouver, Canada. The game is available on PC Windows.

Plot

SkyKeepers is set in a fantasy world inspired by culture and mythology of Oceania folks. The game's main hero is called Tangi – he is a chief of Skykeeper Village where people lived in happiness and prosperity. But one day, the protagonist falls a victim to a tragic accident after which he is turned into a stone. During his absence the village is overrun by evil ghosts. Tangi had to stay in that form for a year – now, the only thing left for him to do is to take his axe and fight with enemies that lure the island. At the same time, he tries to rebuild the ruined village but also to reclaim his name.

Mechanics

SkyKeepers, available on PC Windows, is an action game presented from a side perspective. During exploration of different levels Tangi must face various enemies – he fights with classic monsters but he also needs to defeat demons and bosses inspired by Oceania's mythology which is something rare for video games. Defeating bosses often requires us to come up with an effective strategy but we also need a good reflex – this is because the bosses deal a lot more damage and are more resistant to our attacks.

Because combat is a very important element of the game, the developers created a complex combat system that allows us to chain attacks into combinations. During fights, Tangi makes a good use of his axe but he can also use unique abilities that allow him to teleport to enemies launched into the air and continue fighting in mid-air. The game also has a character development system – we collect resources thanks to which we can rebuild our destroyed village. This is the only way for our hero to get access to new abilities and attacks.

Technical aspects

SkyKeepers uses a 2D graphics made in a cartoony style. Everything looks pleasant to the eye and for some the game may look similar to Shank series.
