Steel Rain

Steel Rain is a 2D side scrolling shooter released on PC and XONE, enriched with elements of strategy game and RPG. The title was created by the independent Swiss studio PolarityFlow.

Mechanics

In terms of mechanics, the production draws a lot from classic, horizontally scrolled 2D shooters, popularly known as shmups. However, the Swiss developer decided not to create yet another clone, but to diversify the game with elements of strategy and RPG. While playing, we control two ships, which can shoot the opponent using six different fire modes and fight in three formations, modified depending on the type of opponents encountered. In addition to the typical shooting missions, in which our goal is to liberate subsequent planets and occasionally fight against bosses, in the game we must also take care of building colonies, researching new technologies and learning new - active and passive - skills. These elements enable us to develop a variety of improvements, build drones to help us in combat or expand our fleet with new ships. It offers as many as ten difficulty levels, including the hardcore mode designed for the greatest veterans of the genre.
