Late: Next Edition is an electronic version of a board strategy game known since 1960, which under the name L'attaque entertained people already before the First World War. The Nintendo DS console was supplied by Ubisoft and includes in its portable version everything that made it popular in the paper edition.

The game takes place on a board of 100 squares (10x10) and focuses on commanding a blue or red army. In each of them you will find 40 units of different military rank. Moving your troops we are looking for an opponent's flag, the acquisition of which ends the game. This is also the case if the opponent is unable to move.

When the two units on the board meet, a battle takes place, which is won by the higher rank unit. If their rank is the same, they are both removed from the board. In addition to standard warriors, we also have non-moving bombs that kill everyone except the miner, who can disarm them. Spies also appear - they are the only characters who can kill the Marshal, the strongest character in the game. Eight squares on the board (two lakes 2x2) are inaccessible to the units - thanks to them the frontal attacks of the whole army are impossible.
