Stride is an arcade action game clearly inspired by the Mirror's Edge series. The title was developed with virtual reality headsets in mind, and the studio behind it is Joy Way.

Story

Stride takes us on a journey to a futuristic metropolis where we play as various freerunners who dash across the rooftops of skyscrapers, dodging and eliminating snipers. In the story mode added after the game's release, you explore the history of the city, gradually learning more about why it is teeming with bad guys and what you need to do to get rid of them.

Mechanics

In Stride we watch the action from a first person perspective (FPP). During the game we jump on the roofs of skyscrapers (grabbing the edges if necessary), swing on the rods, slide down the cables stretched between the buildings, slide on the flat surfaces and break through the windows to the interiors of the buildings. All of this happens fast and the pace of the game is additionally increased by the snipers placed on the roofs, whom we have to avoid or eliminate with the use of a gun.

Game modes

Stride has a number of gameplay variants designed to play alone or in multiplayer. Infinity mode, where we speed through procedurally generated locations, trying to get as far as possible, is waiting to be tested. In addition, the game features a time trial mode where we try to reach the end of the stage as quickly as possible in order to boast the best score in an online ranking, as well as an arena mode, where we are thrown into a vast "playground" and given a variety of tasks to complete (such as acquiring a specific item, staying hidden or eliminating all enemies).

Technical issues

The graphic design of Stride is kept in a pleasant to the eye, "sterile" style reminiscent of the Mirror's Edge series; white dominates the color palette and other colors are only accents that add variety to the whole.
