A two-dimensional point-and-click adventure in which we play the role of a detective trying to solve a very strange case. The action takes place in the city of the future, and the whole atmosphere refers to the famous Blade Runner.
Tales of the Neon Sea is a point-and-click adventure game developed by the independent Chinese studio Palm Pioneer. The game was created thanks to the successful Kickstarter campaign.
Tales of the Neon Sea takes players to a cyberpunk metropolis lit up with colorful neon lights. In the city, people and robots controlled by Artificial Intelligence coexist without trusting each other. The main character of the game is Mr. Mist - a former detective who tries to make the ends meet by completing various assignments. When a person who has the key to solving the mystery of a mysterious murderer who has escaped justice for years is lost without any trace, the protagonist decides to find him. During the investigation, Mr. Mist reveals numerous secrets of the city and, in a way, settles the score with his own past.
In Tales of the Neon Sea, the action is shown from the side perspective. The game revolves around exploring atmospheric locations including city streets, bars, flats, and gloomy canals, where players need to talk to neutral characters in an attempt to get useful information and we solve puzzles that push the action forward. Brain teasers include both searching for specific objects and manipulating of objects encountered in the game world. Interestingly enough, the protagonist is not alone, as he is accompanied by his assistant, a cat named William. The pet can get to places inaccessible to Mr. Mist, and at given moments, the player can take control of it.
Tales of the Neon Sea has colorful,2D visuals made in pixel art technique. Despite their simplicity, the authors managed to create convincing and detailed locations.

Game Ratings for Tales of the Neon Sea Video Game.
GamePitt: 9.6 / 10 by Lynn Caramella
I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed Tales of the Neon Sea, it delivered so much more than I was expecting. Not only do you get a good storyline which manages to hook you until the end, but you also get a wide variety of puzzles, investigations, interactions and fun gameplay. Tales of the Neon Sea is an indie game which deserves much more coverage and exposure as it’s such a great game, even though it’s technically incomplete right now. I can easily recommend Tales of the Neon Sea to anyone who enjoys puzzles and appreciates a good story. Even if you’re only somewhat interested in puzzles, please play this wonderful game as it’s one of a kind.
TechRaptor: 6 / 10
Tales of the Neon Sea is a promising cyberpunk puzzler marred by an underbaked story and a host of small annoyances. Although it boasts engaging puzzles and beautiful visuals, Neon Sea drags and loses its direction as it progresses. It's a game that has potential, but it just can't seem to capitalize on it.
Killa Penguin: 6 / 10 by Jake Arias
When Tales of the Neon Sea is tasking you with exploring a crime scene to deduce what occurred or otherwise revealing interesting details about the world and its characters, it’s an easy 8/10 game. When you’re stuck on a puzzle with no narrative justification that’s made up of 6 smaller puzzles, all of which you can interact with but only one of which is solvable at the time, and there’s no direction explaining what the hell your goal is or even where to start? That’s when Tales of the Neon Sea becomes a 5/10 game. Judging by the chapter select screen, these two halves each make up 50% of the game, and yet you’re bound to spend twice as much time with the latter as you do with the former because the infuriating Matryoshka dolls of nesting puzzles are designed to waste your time, and that’s just not okay.
