PC PS4 XONE

The Last Night for PC, PS4 and XONE is a cyberpunk platformer with adventure elements. This is the first commercial production from Odd Tales.

Plot

The action of The Last Night is embedded in a huge, futuristic, and open city. The metropolis is divided into four sections of different looks, architecture, and general atmosphere, which influences gameplay. You assume the role of a spy hired by private employers who give you such tasks as stealing cars or killing a specific person.

Technological aspects

There are people walking on the streets which are also regularly patrolled by the police. This, combined with the fact that cameras are all around, means that in order to succeed, you have to be quick and quiet. Therefore, during gameplay, you need to sneak, avoid arising suspicion, look for alternative paths, and hack computer networks controlling both security systems and drones. Often, it is best to simply talk to NPCs in order to complete assignments. An AI module that enables the characters to dynamically react to the player’s actions controls each person in the game. Additionally, the things you do in one of the city’s section affect other parts of the metropolis.

The Last Night published on PC, PS4 and XONE is a further development of a free title that has won Cyberpunk Jam 2014. Its commercial edition is a much more ambitious undertaking. A single district is a lot bigger than the whole map of the original version. Not only did the creators make the mechanics more complex, but they also included the plot. The graphics are significantly improved – all elements, including the characters and locations, are given loads of details and visual effects. Still, the title features a retro style and big pixels.
