The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a survival horror action-adventure game. We play as a young girl who wakes up at night in an abandoned school and realizes that she is being hunted by a murderer who reminds her of a feamel teacher. The game was developed and published by the independent Korean studio Devespresso Games (the devs of the first installment, as well as the roguelike RPG titled Vambrace: Cold Soul).
In The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters we play as Mina Park - a student of Sehwa High School, who wakes up one night in school, not knowing why she is there. The girl quickly realizes that something is wrong and a dangerous psychopath, strangely similar to a well-known teacher, is hunting her.
The action in The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is observed from the side, from the side-scrolling perspective. The game consists mainly of exploring available locations (we move around the school and the nearby Sehwa district), talking to characters, solving puzzles and discovering the plot.
Hiding is very important during the game - death comes easily, so the heroine cannot reveal her position. Mina also faces challenges that can result in permanent damage. To survive, we need to be smart, and we need some items. The game features a crafting system, that enables us to create the things we need from the components we find, so we can prepare for different situations. New tools can also enable us to get to places that were previously inaccessible; the game is a bit like a title belonging to the sub-genre of Metroidvania.
The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters can be played only solo. The mainstay of the game is a story campaign.
The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters features attractive, two-dimensional visuals, based mainly on hand-drawn charts and figures. The artistic style refers to the Japanese comic book but is subdued and quite realistic. The game is characterized by a heavy, dark atmosphere, reminiscent of Asian horror films.
