The Feud: Wild West Tactics is a turn-based strategy that takes us to the Wild West. The game was developed by Galaxy Pest Control studio.

Plot

The action of The Feud: Wild West Tactics takes place in the United States after the end of the Civil War, or more precisely, during the famous conflict between the Hatfields (living in West Virginia) and McCoy (from Kentucky), which took place between 1863-1891. During the game we hit the very center of this feud, and during subsequent missions we have the opportunity to look at it from both sides.

Mechanics

In The Feud: Wild West Tactics the action was shown from the top-down view. The core of this game is a story mode consisting of three campaigns with a total of 32 different missions. During the game, we take control of a squad of riflemen, among whom we find both heroes inspired by historical figures and those who only reflect the popular archetypes of the Wild West. We travel through a variety of locations (from vast pastures and gloomy marshes to climatic towns) and perform tasks such as eliminating certain people or blowing up various targets.

We fight against the enemies we meet on the way in turn-based mode, making use of the skills of our characters and the unique possibilities of their armament. In addition, we need to use an environment which elements can, for example, serve as a shield for our charges or provide them with a height advantage. Apart from larger scale skirmishes, we occasionally take part in duels at noon, during which in order to eliminate an opponent from the game, we have to show an incredible reflex.

As we progress, we unlock new abilities of our heroes and improve the ones they already have. Over time, we also get access to more and more advanced murder tools and items useful on the battlefield, including those that can only be used by a specific character.

Game modes

Apart from the feature mode, the Western Saga mode awaits you in The Feud: Wild West Tactics, where you do not need to pay attention to the feature layer. Instead, we get a large map generated procedurally, and our task is to take over the largest possible territory belonging to the three factions. In turn-based mode, we explore the neighborhood, acquire resources and recruit mercenaries, as well as take over other facilities, while taking part in random events and trying to defend our territory against hostile attacks. Next on the list is Skirmish, where we lead a single division and face specially prepared challenges. The last one is the survival mode, in which we select five characters and eliminate successive waves of enemies.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of The Feud: Wild West Tactics is not particularly impressive, and the dialogues have not been dubbed. However, the creators tried to diversify the game a bit, introducing spectacular "film" shots accompanying special attacks and exceptionally successful (and at the same time brutal) elimination of enemies.
