The Forbidden Arts is the work of an independent studio Stingbot Games, in an interesting way combining RPG elements and solutions derived from action adventure games with aspects characteristic for side-scroll platformers. The production has been released on a number of platforms, including PC, Switch, etc.
The Forbidden Arts takes us to the fantastic land of Chora, whose fate was questioned when the rights to it began to claim a sinister necromancer. Luckily, a worthy opponent, Phoenix, the main protagonist of this production, grew up unexpectedly and discovered his supernormal abilities allowing him to control the fire. Luckily, he is not condemned to a lonely crossing, because other daredevils join him in the course of his adventure.
On the PC platform, Switch, etc. The Forbidden Arts is mostly watched from the side - however, at selected moments the camera moves behind the protagonist's back (TPP). The pillar of the game is traversing vast and diverse locations and performing tasks commissioned by neutral characters; the implementation of the mission involves the need to eliminate enemies standing in our path, as well as solving environmental riddles.
Battles with opponents take place in real time, and success ensures not only the right reflexes, but also skillful juggling with Phoenix' pyromantic abilities - although the hero can fight with a white weapon, he is much better able to fight on the battlefield, casting fiery spells that severely hurt his enemies. Throughout the course of the adventure, the protagonist acquires new skills, thanks to which he can face more and more powerful adversaries. Skilfulness is also often useful, as there is no shortage of jumping on platforms, avoiding traps or climbing on elements of the environment.
Three-dimensional graphics of The Forbidden Arts is pleasing to the eye, even though from a technical point of view it is at an average level. This is due to the unique stylistics reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda. The visual sphere is complemented by a catchy soundtrack consisting of tracks played on an acoustic guitar.
