A music-themed adventure puzzle game. The Forest Quartet stars the ghost of a deceased singer, trying to help her former band members regain their musical drive.
The Forest Quartet is a music-themed puzzle adventure game. It was developed by an indie studio Mads & Friends and published by Bedtime Digital Games.
The protagonist of The Forest Quartet is Nina, a deceased main singer in a music band. Seeing how the other band members can't move past her death, Nina's ghost tries to help them deal with their intense emotions, other threats and let them regain their musical drive.
The Forest Quartet makes use of the top-down perspective. The game is set in a dense forest and divided into acts, each dedicated to a different band member. We'll need to heal decaying nature that inspird Kirk, restore light and dispatch the monsters lurking in JB's home, and fix an underground water system to save Sebastian from a volcanic eruption.
To do so, we must traverse the forest, floating above the ground, solving puzzles. We can also transform into butterflies and glance into our party members' minds.
The Forest Quartet features colorful, cartoonish, high-quality visuals. One of the game's strongest points is its audio, consisting of the soundtrack by Danish Radio Big Band and ambient noises, like crackling fire or blowing winds. The game's main developer was Mads Vadsholt, while his family took part in the creative process as well - his father composed the soundtrack, while his sister played the protagonist.

Guardian: 4 / 5 by Tom Regan
Three musicians pick up the emotional and practical pieces after their singer dies in this comforting and warm game of fiendish headscratchers with a phenomenal soundtrack
Hey Poor Player: 4 / 5 by Cory Clark
The Forest Quartet will get you into the swing of things. While I do wish The Forest Quartet would’ve pushed itself just a bit farther in the gameplay department, and the whole experience winds up on the criminally short side, it doesn’t fail to impress with what is there. With likeable and interesting characters, a soft but smooth graphical design, and a superbly soulful soundtrack, this is a short but sweet tale well worth saving for that rainy afternoon when you need a little comfort game.
