The Great Perhaps is an adventure game developed by the independent Caligari Games studio. The production was released by Daedalic Entertainment, a company specializing in this genre, whose portfolio includes such items as The Pillars of the Earth, Deponia series and The Whispered World series.

Plot

In The Great Perphaps we take control of an astronaut who returns to Earth destroyed by numerous natural disasters. The protagonist quickly takes possession of a lamp-looking artifact that allows him to see the past. From now on, its aim is to discover the truth about the events that led to the global disaster and to try to save the planet.

Mechanics

In The Great Perhaps, the action was shown from the side. In the course of the game, we explore gloomy, abandoned locations and solve various puzzles based on time manipulation, complemented by various mini-games. In this way, we gradually discover new fragments of the feature puzzle, getting to know the history of both the world presented and the people who inhabited it many years ago. Our astronaut must be on guard as he encounters terrifying, mutant creatures on his way from time to time. As the protagonist is unable to fight, the player must look for ways to avoid them.

Technical aspects

The Great Perhaps has two-dimensional graphics in cartoon style, enriched with elements reminiscent of communist propaganda posters. The unique atmosphere is created by both the economical colours of the setting and the soundtrack adjusted to the events on the screen.
