The Last Remnant Remastered is a remastered version of the Japanese RPG from 2008. As with the original, Square Enix is responsible for the development and release of this production.
The Last Remnant Remastered takes us on a journey to a fantastic universe where four intelligent races live – Mitra, giant and terrifying monsters called Yama, four-handed creatures with feline heads, known as Sovanni and magic lizards Qsiti.
The plot focuses on the title Remnants, i.e. mysterious, ancient artifacts able to take various shapes and sizes (they can take the form of weapons, machines or creatures) – their hidden power upset the balance in the land and over time led to the outbreak of a civil war. A thousand years after these events, the adventure of the two heroes begins – the young and energetic Ruth Sykes and the dark, long-haired Conqueror. In the course of the game, players not only learn about the fate of the protagonists and their companions, but also find out by whom, when and for what purpose these artifacts were created.
In The Last Remnant Remastered we observe the action from the third-person perspective (TPP). We travel around the world, talk to the NPCs living in it and perform various tasks. Apart from that, we fight turn-based battles with our opponents, among them, there are battles with hundreds of units, which are carried out on a grand scale. Battles, during which we issue commands to the protagonist and his companions, are diversified with Quick Time Events (thanks to which we can increase the power of the attack), as well as the morale indicator affecting the combat potential of the fighters. As we progress, we increase the combat potential of the protagonist and his companions, providing them with better and better equipment.
The Last Remnant Remastered stands out from the original thanks to improved graphics, thanks to the use of the Unreal Engine 4 technology.
