The Living Dungeon Description
The Living Dungeon for PC and XONE is a fantasy board game. It was developed by British studio RadiationBurn, which has released over 40 productions for various gaming platforms.
Mechanics
The Living Dungeon is a digital equivalent of popular board games. During the game, you play as one of the many available characters, which have varied abilities and characteristics. Depending on whether you are playing in the story mode or the multiplayer mode, you have either a strictly defined task to complete, or you need to eliminate other players. The possibilities are many, as the dungeons are randomly generated and may be full of secrets, useful items, and varied enemies. During your turn, you can commit five various actions; you have two minutes for that, which calls for quick and creative thinking. Like in many typical board games, to succeed you need luck and a sense of strategy, which can help you outsmart your enemies, or even have them eliminate each other.
Game mode
The Living Dungeon features an expansive (about 30 hours long) story mode and four varied multiplayer modes: Assassination, Head Hunter, Random Assassination, and Escape. An initial version of the game only featured one multiplayer mode utilizing the hot-seat model, but eventually it was updated in such a way to enable an online mode. What's interesting is that The Living Dungeon allows you to join in at any given moment, even when the game is already in progress, with no detrimental effect on the gameplay itself or the player.
Technical aspects
Among many other board games for PC and XONE, The Living Dungeon features exceptionally good visuals, thanks to which you don't just see a static board on screen, but also realistically rendered figurines, which move around a 3D map. Curiously, the game also features two visual styles to choose from, each evoking a different atmosphere, which you can change to suit your preferences. One style is dark and grim, while in the other you observe things from the point of view of someone playing the game in a tavern.
