Roguelike realized in the form of dynamic FPP RPG. In the Barony, we traverse the procedurally generated undergrounds and face hordes of enemies, playing alone or in the company of up to three players.
Barony is a roguelike, played as a dynamic action RPG. The game was developed by the independent studio Turning Wheel. The main source of inspiration for the artists were cult games, led by Ultima Underworld, System Shock and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall.
Barony take us on a journey to a fantastic kingdom whose true pearl years ago was a city called Hamlet. One day the sinister Baron Herx invaded this metropolis and enslaved its inhabitants, moving it to his vast underworld. After decades, a group of daredevils decided to face him and put an end to his reign once and for all, saving Hamlet from oppression. But before they succeed, the heroes must face hordes of monsters and other dangers lurking in the impassable maze of dungeons.
In Barony, the action was shown from the first person perspective (FPP). Before we start playing we choose one of several character classes, among which we can find both standard professions, such as warrior or mage, as well as slightly more exotic specialties like the blue katana-equipped ninja warrior or monk fighting with his own fists. During the game, we go through the vast undergrounds generated procedurally and eliminate hordes of enemies, which, depending on the class of the hero chosen at the beginning, we kill with cold weapons or magic. During underground voyages we have to watch out for numerous traps, however, their presence can also be used to our advantage, luring the unconscious adversaries. Although over time we encounter more and more powerful enemies, we also grow in strength, gaining new equipment and unlocking better combat skills.
In Barony, we are not doomed to cross the river alone; the game allows for a cooperative gameplay in the company of up to three people, via the Internet or the local network.
The graphic design of Barony has been maintained in a retro style reminiscent of the early nineties. The game includes a built-in editor that allows you to create your own dungeons and share them with the whole community.
