Another expansion for the popular life simulator The Sims 4 from EA Maxis company. The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs introduces titular animals, letting each family of sims take a quadruped pet under their roof. Thanks to the “Create Animal” we can create our own four-legged pupil and customize its look and character so it fits our preferences.
The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs is another content pack for PC version of The Sims 4 – 2014’s life simulator from EA Maxis team. It requires the base version of the game and introduces titular furry friends.
The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs adds pets domesticated by humans thousands of years ago. This means that the sims can decide to adopt man’s best friend or “unofficial boss of everything” which goes its own way. This marks the huge return of “Create Pet” tool, which lets us adjust a pet to our preferences. We start by selecting from hundreds of races, but this is just a first of many difficult choices. It is also possible to mix two types and even customize elements like the tail or shape of ears to create our perfect companion. Lastly, the color of the fur can be changed, creating unique coloration, personalized patterns or even psychedelic parts like pink strips on a tail. If we are done with the tool, there are many costumes and other “pet wardrobe” elements (including collars, scarves and ribbons), as well as new decorative elements and items for our quadruped friends.
Pets themselves act dynamically, so e.g. cat can run from the dog on a tree or a fridge, and a dog will dig in a garden, learn tricks or chase birds during a walk. As in real life, animals also have their own personalities. One dog will like to go after others; a different one will lie on couch for hours. One cat will bring their prey to its mistress, while another one will run away when it hears a vacuum cleaner.
On the other hand, pets can also get sick, but this isn’t the end of the world, since veterinary clinics are among the novelties introduced in The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs. Not only they will treat pets, but also allow sims to become vets themselves and establish their own practice.

The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs was the expansion I was most looking forward to, and it did not let me down. With the robust creation tool, the numerous new items, and great ways to play and interact with your pets allows you to make new memories and adds a new layer of depth to the game. With the exception of the veterinary job, this expansion is full of items and great new gameplay potentials, and in my opinion is one of the greatest expansions for The Sims 4.
