A third-person action adventure game with roguelike elements. The Skyland Chronicles combines the stories about European pirates with Slavic myths and legends. The game features brutal fights inspired by the Dark Souls series. We control a captain of the ship, tasked with managing his crew during their adventures.
The Skyland Chronicles is a third-person roguelike with dynamic combat, made in the style of FromSoftware's games. The game is based on the fantasy books by Mikael Florin and was produced by the MFA Games studio.
We control a man named Franco, who ends up in a fantasy world. To face numerous challenges, the hero uses his experience as a sea pirate. He is not alone in this, as he is accompanied by the crew of the ship he commands. In order to quell the rebellion on board, Franco embarks on new escapades.
The brutal combat is inspired by soulslike titles, requiring us to show some agility and to learn diverse attack patterns. In addition to open combat, The Skyland Chronicles also allows for stealth eliminations. New character skills are provided by tarot-inspired cards.
One of the important elements of the gameplay is the crew's morale. During the journey, Franco acquires gold and resources, which helps in meeting the needs of his crewmen. Adventures are accompanied by random events, such as ambushes by bandits, as well as visits to city shops. The goods are also dependent on the morale of each team member, which is constantly decreasing. This forces us to make difficult decisions about whose needs to prioritize.
The main character of The Skyland Chronicles discovers a dark secret that threatens not only his crew, but almost the entire human race. In response, he embarks on a journey through forgotten lands, learning the stories from myths and legends. One of them is the story about King Popiel, preceded by a duel with a boss named the Rat King.
The Skyland Chronicles runs on the Unreal engine.
