The Surge 2: The Kraken is the first feature expansion to The Surge 2 action RPG released in 2019. The add-on offers a completely new story, location, and a lot of equipment and opponents. The authors of the base game - developers from the German studio Deck13 Interactive (they also created the first part of the series and helped with the Lords of the Fallen developed by the native CI Games) are responsible for the development of this title. The publisher is Focus Home Interactive.
The plot of the DLC The Kraken revolves around the VBS Krakow - an old plane that is located on the outskirts of the city of Jericho.
The gameplay of The Surge 2: The Kraken does not differ much from what we know from the basic version of the game. We explore large locations and fight against enemies by cutting off their limbs to acquire new equipment (or parts that allow for its creation) and gradually develop and modify the power armor. What's important, like in the Dark Souls series, if we fail in battle, we lose our earned and unreleased scrap (the equivalent of souls from the Dark Souls series - it plays the role of currency and experience points simultaneously).
The expansion offers a completely new location where we will find the airship VBS Krakow, currently serving as an attraction for the rich people. Among the new enemies we find robotic pirates and damaged defense systems. There's also a place for a new, powerful boss. Each type of enemy has its own distinctive fighting style and requires different tactics.
The Surge 2: The Kraken DLC does not offer any new game modes. The basis of the game is the single player module, enriched with limited network functionality.
The Surge 2: The Kraken does not introduce significant changes in the graphic design. We receive only new (although maintained in a similar style) designs of places, enemies and equipment. The new location is reminiscent of the suburbs of American metropolis.
