Thief of Thieves is an action-adventure game for PC Windows and XONE, released in an episodic form. It was developed by Finnish studio Rival Games, known for the 2014 game The Detail.
As the title suggests, the game is based on the comic Thief of Thieves, written by Robert Kirkman, mostly known for The Walking Dead series. Thief of Thieves tell the story of Conrad Coulson, a legendary thief working under the nickname Redmond. One day, he changes his career path and starts to steal from other thieves.
You play as Celia, a young woman, who learns the art of theft from Redmond. During the first season, consisting of four episodes, she attempts to commit a series of increasingly difficult heists.
Thief of Thieves is an action-adventure game with stealth elements for PC Windows and XONE. Each heist has to be carefully planned out first, and then carried out as precisely as possible.
You begin most missions by doing a reconnaissance in disguise, e.g. as a courier to gather useful information and prepare for the robbery. During the heist, the stealth aspect becomes most prominent. You have to quietly move towards your target, avoid patrols, and neutralize security systems.
Celia is no good at close-quarters combat and cannot win against guards, so you have to avoid detection at all costs. The gameplay also features logic puzzles and various minigames, involving e.g. lockpicking.
The game features fully 3D visuals, but they successfully imitate the style of the comic the production is based on.

Thief of Thieves is an awful video game. It's tedious and clunky, has broken AI, awful dialogue, miserable characters and a boring story that has absolutely nothing of interest to say or add to the heist genre.

Thief of Thieves would be a boring game in the best of conditions, but the Switch version only serves to make a bad game worse. It's incredibly short, clocking in at less than five hours, but I still found myself struggling to care to keep going long before I reached the end. From the bland, underdeveloped gameplay to the buggy port, Thief of Thieves spent so much time focusing on the comic book's style that it didn't bother including any actual substance.
