Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is the second installment in a sub-series existing within a popular franchise of tactical action games about an elite squad of soldiers called Ghosts. The story picks up soon after the conclusion of the first GRAW. You get into an imaginary conflict on the frontier of the USA and Mexico. A civil war between the loyalists and the rebels rages in the latter, which endangers security of the country’s northern neighbor. Captain Scott Mitchell and his crew land nearby the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez and later proceed to defend the USA at the left side of Rio Grande, in El Paso, Texas.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 presents a possible scenario of how soldiers may act in a near future. Ghosts are equipped with supermodern weaponry and prototypical gear (special field uniforms ACU, recon plane UAV, or a supply vehicle Mule). Besides, in some missions an additional support is offered e.g. by flying recon drones, heavily armored M1A2 Abrams tank, and AH-64D Apache helicopter with rocket launchers onboard.
Another noteworthy thing is the more advanced User Interface, as compared with the first GRAW. This allows you e.g. to quickly switch between different cameras, to help you plan precise tactics. The authors also improved Artificial Intelligence of both enemies and player’s soldiers.
The game features a new multiplayer mode (Recon vs. Assault), which puts Ghosts and Mexican military forces up against each other. The former can use all the equipment also available in the single player campaign, so they obviously have technical advantage (including such gear as sniper rifles able to penetrate thin walls, and ability to detect and display enemy positions on HUD). On the other hand, the Mexicans gain really heavy fire, including quick-fire rifles, rocket launchers, etc. Moreover, they respawn after death, whereas the American commandos, when killed, have to wait untill the end of the round.
