Tomb Raider (1996) Expansion Pack
Release Date: 1998
Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business is both a collection package for Tomb Raider, introducing four new levels, as well as the special version of this production, featuring the "base game" and the expansion. Lara can once again visit Egypt and the Forgotten City.
After the premiere of the first Tomb Raider in 1996, the Core Design studio quickly began working on its sequel, and then on subsequent installments of the series. In the meantime, new content for this production was created in the offices of Eidos (a publisher that eventually merged with Square Enix) in San Francisco.
The result of this venture is the Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business described here, known in the United States as Tomb Raider Gold. The title refers both to the add-on introducing bonus stages, and to the special edition of the game, which includes its base version and new levels.
Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business contains four new levels, which were divided into two chapters. The first takes us to Egypt a few months after the events depicted in the base version of the game and once again allows us to visit the city of Khamoon, where Lara Croft must investigate the statue of the cat goddess Bastet. The second one takes place right after the finale of the base game and allows Miss Croft to destroy the last remnants of the Atlantean race.
Additional content prepared for Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business can be downloaded separately and installed to the base version of the game, or purchased in a similarly titled package with the "base game".
