Total War: ELYSIUM is a classic collector's card game that combines the features of Total War series with games such as Magic: The Gathering Arena and Legends of Runeterra. The British Creative Assembly studio, known from the main series, is responsible for creating the spin-off. Total War: ELYSIUM can be played for free because it is based on a free-to-play model with optional micropayments.
The gameplay mechanics refers to classic card games like Magic: The Gathering Arena, Gwent or Hearthstone. What matters in the game is the sense of strategy and tactics, not luck. It is very important to choose the right general that fits the player's style of play.
The deck consists of cards with basic units, well-known commanders or special attacks. In addition, the developers introduced unique mechanics, Daybreak system, which allows you to call up reinforcements appropriate to the situation during duels. For example, if your enemy has a strong set of archers, then you should think about sending in cavalry. Moreover, some sets may become stronger over time or be used only at certain times of the day.
In total, there are more than 300 cards and 9 generals from different historical periods available in the game, some of which should be well known to Total War fans. Among the commanders are Napoleon Bonaparte, a Chinese general from the Han Cao Cao dynasty and Sun Ren, daughter of Chinese commander Sun Jian.
The most important currency in Total War: ELYSIUM is the amethyst, thanks to which you can buy generals and Battle Packs. The player can receive cards as a reward for the next level of experience and mission performance. The game also allows to produce them thanks to the crafting system.
Special cards, gold and amethyst can be won not only during the game, but also by spending real money directly in the game.
In Total War: ELYSIUM you can play in both single and multiplayer mode.
The graphic design of the game is quite simplified, adapted to the capabilities of mobile devices. During the game, we admire the modest looking battlefield, on which are placed cards with graphics showing the units available by the player, including the largest generals in history.
