Trackmania Turbo is another installment in the renowned series of arcade driving games that offer the chance to race on crazy tracks with bewildering speeds. PS4, PC and XONE version was developed by Nadeo studio – the fathers of the whole Trackmania series. What’s worth mentioning, despite having a similar title, the game isn’t in any way related to the production released in 2010 on Nintendo DS.

Gameplay

The general gameplay premise is the same as in the previous installments of the series. The objective of the game is to complete bizarre racing tracks, filled with various obstacles, ramps, barrels, and treacherous turns. The player tries to reach the finish line as fast as possible and beat previous time records.

Trackmania Turbo for PS4, PC and XONE offers 4 distinctive environments in which the races take place: Lagoon Rollercoaster (tropical archipelago), International Stadium (large stadium), Canyon Drift (rocky canyon in America), and Dirty Valley (hilly rural area). Each of them offers a unique experience, giving a total of four different gameplay styles.

Push Square: 6 / 10 by Sammy Barker

TrackMania: Turbo's a gaudy game that demands you excel in short bursts. A truly compelling online component and a meaty single player campaign is offset by some shaky handling that, in the case of one car in particular, is far too fiddly to be fun – but those that like a challenge will still enjoy attempting to tame the title's increasingly outlandish maps. With a clumsy but empowering track editor there's certainly no danger of this racer running out of gas – it just depends how long you're willing to keep up with the quest to be the best.
