A third-person action adventure game, meant as a prologue for the entire Turok series. In Turok Origins we play as one of the warriors fighting to defend the planet from both dinosaurs and hostile aliens. We can develop our character as we progress. The game allows for singleplayer and online coop gameplay.
Turok Origins is the fifth game under the Turok brand. It serves as a prequel to the entire series which started in 1997. Unlike previous installments of the series, which were pure FPS games, here we are dealing with an action adventure game. It was developed and released by Saber Interactive company.
In Turok Origins we see the world from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we take on the role of one of the titular warriors and our task is to face hordes of dinosaurs and confront aliens who want to annihilate humanity at all costs.
The adventure leads us through various planets, where we visit ancient temples, deep canyons, vast wastelands stretching to the horizon, as well as swamps and jungles. As we explore them, we accomplish the missions set before us and eliminate numerous opponents. Apart from dinosaurs, other creatures also stand in our way, and among the adversaries, powerful bosses take the lead.
We eliminate enemies by fighting in close combat with melee weapons or by using ranged weapons. We can rely on plasma and sniper rifles, as well as blasters or bows.
As we progress, we collect DNA (from defeated enemies and relying on other means), which we can use to equip our character with powerful abilities. Moreover, over time we acquire new skills and increasingly better equipment, which improves our combat potential.
Turok Origins can be played solo or in co-op over the internet.
