Two Point Museum is the third installment in the humorous economic strategy series, initiated in 2018 by the game Two Point Hospital and continued in 2022 with Two Point Campus. The game was created by Two Point Studios team, which has been overseeing the development of the series from the beginning, while its release was handled by Sega.

Gameplay

As the title suggests, Two Point Museum allows us to create and run our own museum from scratch. By stepping into the role of a curator, we take on all the issues related to the functioning of such a place.

First and foremost, we need to send specialists on expeditions across Two Point County and beyond to search for rare artifacts and other valuable specimens from the past. We can then present the objects collected by archaeologists to museum guests. In order to do this as best as possible, we need to take care of decorations and information boards, or also mark out paths for tours and hire charismatic guides who will tell guests about the exhibits.

If you're a fan of management sims, museums, or both, you won't want to miss this

Full Review

Checkpoint Gaming: 8 / 10 by Victor Tan

Two Point Museum combines the Two Point series' charm with museums to create a simulator experience you won't forget. Building on a museum theme and making it your own is a true delight. There's lots of flexibility and you can always challenge yourself to reach greater heights. Creating your dream museum will take lots of time and there is some randomness to it. But the elation of creating and supporting a museum is captured perfectly within this experience.

The main pros of the game

  • Relaxing Gameplay: Many users appreciate the laid-back pace of the game, allowing them to build and manage their museums without the pressure found in more frantic management sims.
  • Engaging Campaign: The campaign mode is praised for its sense of progression, with various museums to switch between, keeping the gameplay fresh and interesting.
  • Humor and Quirkiness: The game maintains the signature humor and quirky charm of the Two Point franchise, with funny announcements and amusing exhibit concepts.
  • Expedition Mechanics: Users enjoy the expedition feature, which adds depth to the gameplay by allowing players to discover and collect artifacts.
  • Visuals and Design: The graphics and art style receive positive feedback, with many players finding the design appealing and engaging.
  • Variety of Content: There is a wide range of exhibits and themes, which keeps players engaged and encourages exploration and creativity.

The main cons of the game

  • Sandbox Mode Limitations: Many players express disappointment with the sandbox mode, noting that it does not provide everything unlocked, requiring them to grind through expeditions again to build their ideal museum.
  • Repetitive Gameplay: Some users find that certain tasks and mechanics become repetitive after extended playtime, particularly in the mid to late game.
  • Staff Management Issues: There are complaints about the inability to adjust staff salaries, which can lead to financial difficulties, and some staff traits that can negatively impact gameplay.
  • Technical Issues: A number of reviews mention bugs and crashes, particularly after updates, which can disrupt gameplay and lead to lost progress.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • True Sandbox Experience: Players desire a more genuine sandbox mode where they can start with all items and features unlocked without needing to re-grind for expeditions.
  • More Granular Building Options: Some users wish for more flexibility in building layouts, such as the ability to rotate items freely or to have more control over the aesthetics of their museums.
  • Quality of Life Improvements: Suggestions include better UI features for managing staff and exhibits, such as easier navigation and clearer indicators for blocking items in exhibit setups.
  • Mini-Games and Visitor Perspectives: Some players miss the inclusion of mini-games or a walkthrough mode that allows them to experience the museum from a visitor's viewpoint, which was a feature in older simulation games.

Summary

  • Overall, Two Point Museum is well-received for its charm, humor, and engaging gameplay, but it faces criticism for limitations in sandbox mode, repetitive tasks, and some technical issues. Users express a desire for more depth and flexibility in building and management features.
