A Polish hybrid of a third-person shooter and a roguelike production, made by the creators of Fort Solis. Ultra Mega Cats allows us to play as various feline heroes, armed with claws and weapons. We deal with mice and other types of animals during our adventures. There is singleplayer and coop available.
Ultra Mega Cats is a game on the border of shooters and roguelike titles. It is the result of a collaboration between Polish teams Unseen Silence and Black Drakkar Games, as well as the Polish-British team Fallen Leaf. The last two of the mentioned studios collaborated on the Fort Solis project, released in 2023.
In Ultra Mega Cats we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The game gives us access to cats that vary in terms of strengths and weaknesses, combat skills, and preferred weaponry. Assuming the role of one of the four-legged heroes, we explore futuristic locations and face numerous enemies.
We face primarily mice during our expeditions, but we also encounter other animals, such as hamsters carrying bombs. The battles with them are dynamic, and during them we must be constantly moving, avoiding enemy attacks and skillfully using the character's abilities.
We make use of both claws and a wide range of weapons, including rifles, cannons, and bows. There are also combat skills in the game, such as an energy shield protecting us from bullets.
As we progress, we gain access to new cats and develop their skills, as well as accumulate increasingly better equipment. Due to the fact that arenas are procedurally generated, each game may look slightly different from the previous one.
We can play Ultra Mega Cats solo or in a cooperative multiplayer mode over the Internet.
Ultra Mega Cats transports us to a universe inhabited by anthropomorphic cats, rodents, and birds, where the former live under the yoke of the latter two. During the game, we embody one of the furry cats who managed to escape from captivity. From that moment, our goal is the elimination of enemy hordes and the liberation of three Ancient Cats, which represent the last hope for the salvation of the entire species.
