Unknown 9: Awakening

Unknown 9: Awakening is an action adventure game in which events are presented from a third person perspective (TPP). The game of Reflector Entertainment takes us on a journey to the original universe known as Storyworld, in which humanity is trying to balance transcendence with self-destruction.

Plot

The main heroine of Unknown 9: Awakening is Haroona. A girl raised on the streets of Kolkata in India is haunted by visions of her own death. Under the guidance of a mentor, the protagonist learns to master her supernatural ability to control what is invisible, and gains access to a hidden dimension called The Fold, whose secrets she tries to explore.

The story presented in Unknown 9: Awakening is only a part of the larger universe of Unknown 9, set in the Storyworld. The novel Unknown 9: Genesis by Layton Green, the podcast Unknown 9: Out of Sight, and the comic book Unknown 9: Torment are among those that make up the story. Before the premiere, a community text game called Unknown 9: Chapters was also released, which was developed by the Montreal team of Alice & Smith.

A key role in the world of Unknown 9 is played by nine books, which contain all the wisdom accumulated by all the civilizations that have ever inhabited the Earth; each of the latter reached an incredibly high level of development and then led to self-destruction. So that their knowledge would not be in vain, they decided to write it down. The books were supposed to be guarded by nine non aging (but not immortal, so over the course of centuries many of them had their successors) guards, who from that moment on were supposed to secretly influence the fate of subsequent generations and civilizations.
