War for the Overworld is a humorous fantasy RTS and a spiritual successor to the 1997 Dungeon Keeper. It is the first game developed by the indie studio Subterranean Games. In War for the Overworld, we play as a demonic Underlord whose task is to turn his underground kingdom into a true empire of evil. Emperor Stockington and his forces will try to stop us. We will have to gradually expand our dungeons and train the monsters that dwell there.

War for the Overworld is a real-time strategy game with focus on the economical aspect, and a humoristic, fantasy setting. It is a debut production for the Subterranean Games studio.

The game was created as a spiritual successor to the Dungeon Keeper series, the developers have made sure to reconstruct most of the basic mechanics and elements of the classic. However, they have not limited their efforts to simply remaking the Bullfrog studio’s game and added substantial amount of their own ideas into the production. Upon starting War for the Overworld, the player has a small underground domain under his command, it is his task to expand it into a proud kingdom of evil. The forces of good under the command of Emperor Stockington inhabit the surface, and they will not stand idly by while your empire grows.
