Release Date: 2026
The fourth installment in a series of real-time strategy games, going back to its roots. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 was created by KING Art Games studio (developers of Iron Harvest). The gameplay is not only about commanding a group of units, but also about constructing an operational base.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series was started in 2004 and created by Relic Entertainment. Over the following years the same studio was responsible for its development. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is the fourth mainline production under this banner and can be considered a return to the roots, however it introduces significant changes in terms of the companies behind its creation. Its development was undertaken by the German KING Art Games studio (known primarily thanks to the similar genre game Iron Harvest), while its release was handled by Deep Silver.
In Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV we watch the events from a bird's eye view.
The game takes us to the planet Kronus, known from the older expansion Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade. The plot of the game is the work of John French, a British writer associated with the worlds of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
The story he tells focuses on Captain Cyrus, Chief Librarian Jonah Orion, Orc Chief Gorgutz, and other commanders who find themselves in the midst of a war between four factions. Space Marines, Orks, and Necrons have already made their appearances in the series. Adeptus Mechanicus faction is making their debut in the series and joining them.
Individual factions are differentiated in terms of unique units, buildings and leaders, as well as the style of play. Each of them fights in a unique way and has strong and weak points, the skillful use of which is the key to victory here.
The gameplay takes place in diverse biomes, such as wastelands, icy lands, highlands, Hive City or Manufactorum regions. During this process, we gather resources and build an operational base, recruit units and send them to battle against enemy forces. Fights take place in real time, and for their needs a Sync Kill system has been prepared, thanks to which the clashes have gained significantly in detail.
The heart of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV are four narrative campaigns, allowing us to take control of individual sides of the conflict. In addition to this, there are battles against AI or with other players in 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 formats waiting to be tested here. The game also features the Last Stand mode, where we repel successive waves of enemies.
The icing on the cake is an editor that allows us to create our own content, as well as a set of painting tools that enable personalization of individual units.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV runs on the Unity engine.

Dawn of War is back. But is it the work of the Emperor's devoted servants, or can you smell the heresy in it? I've played an early version of DoW 4 and I'm still having trouble answering that question.
