Published by Tecmo Koei, Warriors All-Stars for PS4, PC and PSV is an impressive action title from Omega Force studio. This is a crossover production – the game’s heroes come from the most popular series of the Japanese publisher.
Warriors All-Stars takes the player to a fantasy world in which peace and order is guarded by the mysterious energy called “spring.” However, the idyll comes to an end, as together with the death of the king, the force begins to die down, which brings the spectre of doom. Still, not everything is lost yet – the queen tries to save the world by passing an ancient legend along to her daughter. According to her mother’s instructions, the princess needs to perform an age-old ritual thanks to which a true hero from another dimension will visit the world, bring back order, and enthrone a legitimate ruler. However, something goes wrong, and the world is visited by numerous heroes who are scattered around the world and fight for opposing and power-hungry parties.
In Warriors All-Stars released on PS4, PC and PSV, you take control of a few protagonists. The title includes: Sanda Yukimura from the Samurai Warriors series, Zhao Yun from the Dynasty Warriors franchise, Toukiden’s Oka, Sophie and Plachta representing Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mystrious Book, Kasumi from Dead or Alive, Millenia from the Deception series, Hajime Arima from Harukanaru Toki no Daka de, and Ruy Hayabusa from the extremely-popular series Ninja Gaiden. Each hero possesses a unique personality, which can be noticed during the dialogues between events of the plot.
The title follows in footsteps of other games in the Musou franchise – gameplay consists in exploring open locations and defeating a multitude of opponents. Combat takes place in real-time, and the key to success lies in making use of a wide array of attacks and attack combinations – each character has different ones. Moreover, all heroes have individual attacks which can often change the situation on the battlefield. The world features diverse lands inspired by the locations from Tecmo Koei’s series. During gameplay, you visit e.g. Forgotten Nursery known from Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book and Temporal Anomaly from the Age of Grace available in Toukiden: Kiwami.
Warriors All-Stars utilises the technology used in the previous productions by the studio. The production features high-quality 3D graphics and smooth animation, which is impressive, given the fact that battles often involve hundreds of units.
Warriors All-Stars was meant to be yet another instalment in the Warriors Orochi franchise. Due to the fact that the creators wanted to focus on differentiating the characters and their individual offensive abilities, they decided to make the game a new brand with a limited number of heroes. Due to those choices, playing each character is a completely different experience.

Game Ratings for Warriors All-Stars Video Game.
ZTGD: 5 / 10 by Sophie Halliday
The overall lack of polish, the game's repetitive nature and the completely dysfunctional way in which information is presented to the player is a real let down. As a result, I don't think Warriors All-Stars is a game that is going to win over many new fans. The combat is accessible but everything else is a bit of a chore.
TheSixthAxis: 5 / 10 by Miguel Moran
Warriors All Stars is a grand celebration of the history and popularity of Koei Tecmo. Unfortunately, the celebration fails to deliver a satisfying video game experience. Every time I had to re-unlock a character, or study three different menus to try and guess which missions I had to avoid so I could get the next proper story chapter, Warriors All Stars felt less like a celebration, and more like homework.
Push Square: 5 / 10 by Robert Ramsey
Warriors All-Stars is a colourful hack and slash title that can be fun in short bursts thanks to its varied cast of playable characters, but it just has too many problems to be considered a good Warriors game. Frustrating, tedious mission design, a throwaway story, and a wildly unstable framerate make it very difficult to recommend when there are so many better Koei Tecmo titles on the market.
