We Sing for XONE and PS4 is another installment in a series of karaoke games popular among the users of Nintendo Wii consoles. The game can be considered a reboot of the franchise; it was announced in August, 2016 and developed by We Sing Productions. THQ Nordic published the game for many virtual entertainment systems.
Similarly to the previous installments, the gameplay is based on the rules of the “analog” karaoke, thus the player's goal is to sing different songs – each performance is evaluated by KaraEngine – a system that evaluates the player and awards a particular number of points for the performance.
Particular songs can be sang not only along the original vocal tracks, but also when accompanied only by the instrumental. 30 songs were included in the game, such as Abba's Dancing Queen, David Bowie's Let's Dance, or Wiz Khalifa's and Charlie Puth's See You Again.
We Sing for XONE and PS4 features six game modes, created both for singleplayer and multiplayer; in the latter case, the players can either cooperate or compete against one another. The creators were focused on delivering a multiplayer experience for players using one console: up to eight players can take part in a session – when four of them are using dedicated microphones, the other half can use their smartphones instead. One can share their scores with others in online rankings.
The game is complemented by three difficulty levels, thus the player is capable of adjusting the complexity of particular songs to one's individual skill level. Furthermore, the player can watch videoclips for the songs included when having a break from singing.
We Sing for XONE and PS4 utilizes the Unreal Engine 4, which is at the source of the game's high-quality visuals. Importantly, advanced anti-cheating mechanisms were implemented.
