Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic - World Maps is an expansion to the city builder released in 2024, in which we are engaged in the construction of a socialist people's republic. Similar to the base version of the game, the described DLC was developed by 3Division studio, while its release was handled by Hooded Horse company.

New features in the expansion

As the title suggests, the biggest new feature introduced in Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic - World Maps are new locations in which we can build our communist metropolises. The DLC brings eight maps reflecting (in scale) various countries along with the cities and villages existing within them. Individual places were differentiated in terms of topography or even the availability of resources. We are talking about such maps as:

  1. Austria – rich in resources, especially iron, coal and uranium, although at the same time dotted with problematic mountains and cliffs.
  2. Estonia – a small state located between Russia and Latvia, which bases its trade on the use of sea, air and railway transport (the line crossing Tallinn provides it with a connection with the Soviet Union).
  3. France – a convenient location between the English Channel, the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic, rich deposits of iron ore, bauxite, as well as coal and crude oil mean that the local industry and trade can grow to impressive proportions. Tourism is also important and could become one of the main branches of the French economy.
  4. North Korea – skillful use of the local resources of iron, uranium, bauxite and coal, focusing on the development of agriculture, as well as marking sea and air routes, can raise the "beloved leader" of this country to a pedestal, and make its capital one of the most important metropolises in the world.
  5. East Germany – deposits of low-quality coal, but also iron ore, uranium and crude oil, combined with vast plains and access to the sea give this country the opportunity to develop industry on a large scale and build powerful metropolises.
  6. Czech Republic – has deposits of coal, iron, bauxite, crude oil and uranium, however, due to the presence of mountains, the extraction of these raw materials and their transport requires clever route planning and ingenuity.
  7. East Coast of the United States – Americans can trade with representatives of countries on both sides of the Iron Curtain. The vast territory (stretching from New York, through North Carolina, to the Appalachians) generates significant challenges related to the transport of resources for internal use (especially since the most important raw materials are found mainly in mountainous areas).
  8. British Isles – their greatest strength is primarily sea and air trade. Unfortunately even internal transport of goods requires the use of bridges, ferries and airplanes and they can significantly complicate our lives.
