An American video game publisher headquartered in Dallas. Hooded Horse publishes PC and console titles, including Against the Storm and Manor Lords.

History

Hooded Horse's history begins in 2019. Based in Dallas, Texas, the company set its sights on publishing strategy games, simulators and RPGs.

We didn't have to wait long for the first release: as early as 2020, Old World entered was released on Steam in early access, a game that challenged Sid Meier's Civilization. In July 2021, Mohawk Games released the full version; although the game was warmly received by players and reviewers, it failed to challenge Civilization's position.

Against the Storm and Manor Lords: Polish bestsellers

The first bestseller and artistic success published by Hooded Horse was Against the Storm, a city-builder developed by Eremite Games, a Polish studio. The early access launched in October 2021, while its full version - in December 2023. Against the Storm took Steam by storm (pun intended), topping the charts and receiving "overwhelmingly positive" reviews from players and an average rating of 91/100 from industry media (according to Metacritic).

In early 2024, Hooded Horse released an expansion for Old World: Wonders and Dynasties, as well as a strategy/RPG hybrid: Sons of Valhalla. Furthermore, in April 2024, another Polish production debuted in Steam Early Access: Manor Lords, developed by Slavic Magic, an independent Polish studio.

The latter's success was predicted even before its release – its demo version enjoyed enormous popularity at the 2022 Steam Next Festival, and by January 2024, it had landed on the wishlists of over 2 million players. Manor Lords was released in Early Access on April 26th, enjoying immense popularity and receiving "very good" reviews on Steam. Grzegorz Styczen, the game's creator, was able to work on developing his debut work in peace.
