A Polish space simulator created by a single developer. Wreckborn throws us into a randomly generated outer space and challenges us to clear the area of pirates. To achieve this, we must build bases, manage resources, and ultimately engage in dynamic spaceship battles.

The list of Polish-made space simulators, featuring titles such as Space Commander and Starmageddon 2, includes a contribution from the independent creator Krystian Dobaczewski. His debut game, Wreckborn, combines ship battles with base building.

Gameplay

The open gameplay of Wreckborn focuses on the gradual clearing celestial bodies from rampant pirates. To survive and free captives, we must spend time exploring and developing bases progressively built on asteroids. Therefore, we establish mining colonies and extract deposits, not forgetting preventive measures in the form of defensive turrets.

Resources are obtained manually, using mining ships, or through automated mines. Thanks to the infrastructure of ports and transport networks, we can efficiently move resources between colonies. When generators and refineries are operational, and the industry is sufficiently developed, we gain access to new types of ships and weaponry.

Space battles

Outside our fortress, we locate wrecks, rescue survivors from pirate ships, intercept convoys, and ultimately destroy enemy bases in distant sectors. Dynamic battles are fought using lasers and missiles, involving both light fighters and heavy frigates.

At the same time, we defend our structures, having previously planned the placement of buildings in terms of energy and fields of fire. Pirate raids intensify over time, and any gap in the system can prove fatal for us. The arrangement of asteroids, resource points, and enemy stations is different each time we begin a fresh playthrough.

Graphics

The aesthetics of Wreckborn strike a raw science fiction tone, focusing on the play of light and shadow. Krystian Dobaczewski's production is characterized by a clear and readable interface .
