After 19 years, the iconic sci-fi shooter series is finally coming to PlayStation. Gears of War: Reloaded will be available for free to some players

Fans of the iconic third-person shooter series set in a science fiction universe, as well as those who haven't played the first game with Marcus Fenix as the main character, will soon have the chance to face the enemy race called the Locust, either again or for the first time. Microsoft has announced Gears of War: Reloaded, which is a remaster of the first installment of the Gears of War series.
The release of the title is set to take place on August 26th this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). The new version will cost 39.99 dollars. Moreover, on the day of the release, the game will be available on the PC Game Pass / Game Pass Ultimate service.
As a "token of gratitude for long-time fans" of Gears of War, Microsoft decided to provide the remaster for free to all owners of the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition released in 2016, which is the complete version of the production originally released in 2006. If you purchased the digital version of this game through your Xbox account by May 5th of this year, you will receive a code for Gears of War: Reloaded before its release.
Microsoft announced that they are releasing a new version of the shooter game to celebrate the upcoming anniversary of the series, and making the first game available to more people.

It's about the stories we've told, the friendships we've built, and the unforgettable moments we've shared together. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we're opening that door to more players than ever.
Today's announced remaster will allow fans who play on Sony consoles to enjoy the game. Until now, the first installment of the series was only available on Xbox and PC. GoW: Reloaded will include more features and improvements than the aforementioned Ultimate edition. In addition to the improved textures, shadows, and reflections, the upcoming refresh will provide, among other things:
- support for 4K resolution;
- support for 120 fps in multiplayer mode and 60 fps in campaign;
- support for HDR and VRR technology;
- enhanced anti-aliasing;
- no loading screens in the campaign.
We will be able to complete the Gears of War: Reloaded campaign in online or couch co-op mode for two players. In multiplayer mode, however, we can play with up to 7 other people. The game also supports cross-play and cross-progression functions on all platforms.
All the digital content released for the first Gears of War will be available for free in the Reloaded version. Players will therefore receive an extra act of the campaign, maps, and cosmetic items (unlocked through progress in the game).
