Alone in the Dark is a reimagination of the classic game from 1992. The story is a mystery journey to the dangerous world. At the beginning, you can pick one of the 2 characters – Edward or Emily. Many players wonder whom to choose. Let’s talk about it.

Alone in the Dark (2024) – Emily or Edward, Character Choice Explained

After the introductory cutscene, the game offers you a choice between Emily Hartwood or Edward Carnby. Many players wonder which character to pick. Let’s answer this question.

If you plan to complete Alone in the Dark just once, the decision about the character is unimportant. Both protagonists offer more or less the same story with different cutscenes (various NPCs have different attitude towards them). Moreover, the game takes you mostly to the same places and offers identical puzzles. However, in Chapter 4 the stories separate a little bit, and you will be able to visit different locations.

Playing both characters is recommended if you want to learn all about the game, as the plot is presented from different perspectives. Moreover, some endings are exclusive for characters, and they can be unlocked only after finding specific Lagniappes (collectibles) sets. Gathering them all is possible after playing as Emily and Edward, so if you want to discover every secret, be ready to revisit Derceto.
