Did you plan to start a new adventure in Abiotic Factor? If so, you've come to a good place. Thanks to this guide, you'll find out which traits to choose.
Co-op survival Abiotic Factor left early access a few days ago. 1.0 update introduced many novelties like portal worlds or residence sector. So, it’s a great time to return to the game and start another adventure. Of course, at the beginning, you need to create a new character. So which traits should you choose?
If you have played Project Zomboid, you know this mechanic. At the beginning of your adventure, you have to choose profession. This will give you bonuses and some points to spend on perks. When you confirm your choice, you will be moved to the traits panel. They are split into two categories – positive and negative. The key is to balance them correctly. To start the game, you must have 0 or more points left.
Now that you know how this system works, it’s time to talk about the best traits that you can choose. There are 4 which are particularly interesting.
Naturally Moist is probably the best perk if you play in co-op. It decreases usage of one of the most important resources. As you can read from the in-game description, thanks to this perk “you are naturally moist and get thirsty 20% slower than others.”
Why is this trait good, you ask? Water is one of the hardest resources to get. You will find small amounts of it in the toilet sinks. You can also boil tainted water to purify it, but efficiency of this method is very low. So, the best source of water is tanks spread across the map. They contain a decent amount of it, but they are rare (to the extent that when you scrap them, Abiotic Factor will ask you to confirm your choice). On the other hand, you must drink water regularly. Moreover, you need it for gardening or/and cooking. It means that you will use it up quickly, especially in the bigger groups. So, reducing consumption can be very useful.
Like in the case of other survivals, you will carry many resources. Some of them are quite heavy. So, a stronger character is a good option. This is why Buff Brainiac is useful. This trait gives you +1 to Strength and allows you to carry 15% more. It is worth to take in a single player and in co-op.
Another great choice for both single player and co-op. Wrinkly Brainmeat allows you to get XP 20% faster than usual. As you might have guessed, getting levels will allow you to unlock various benefits. So, it is better to do that sooner rather than later.
First Aid is a great trait, but there is a catch. It boosts your medicine (+1). However, medicine is most useful when you play with other people, as many perks of this skill work only on teammates. So, if you are alone, you will not use the full potential of this trait.
