Abiotic Factor 1.0 was released simultaneously on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. So, it’s a good moment to talk about crossplay.
Inspired by Half-Life, co-op Abiotic Factor received huge 1.0 update. It introduced new portal worlds, residence sector and Torii Home World. However, the biggest novelty is a console launch. Now players across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can experience adventure in the underground complex. But many of them have one question. Let’s talk about crossplay.
In almost all groups of friends who play games, there are people who are die-hard fans of one platform, be it PC or console. In most cases, a console player is the one who suffers. A good example is Abiotic Factor – before patch 1.0 it was available in early access only on PC. While cloud streaming services, like GeForce Now, allow for playing even on a very old PC, they require a fast internet connection, which not everyone has. As a result, teaming up with such people is not always feasible.
Fortunately, it is not the case anymore for Abiotic Factor. With console debut, developers also introduced crossplay across PC, Xbox Series X and PS5. When you first launch the game, you will be asked if you want to enable this feature. You can also change your choice in the settings in the “gameplay” tab.
To play with others, all you need to do is simply start the game and host or join the multiplayer session. There is still one question remaining. How to join players from other platforms? It’s pretty simple – you can just search the correct server. However, it may require a password.
The alternative way to join others is through a code. It is hidden in the server creation panel so the host will not see it right away. However, once they are in the game, it will appear on the pause menu, in the lower right corner. Next, hosts can give it to other players who can enter it on the server list, after pressing the “direct connection” button.
Of course, crossplay has the same restrictions as PC multiplayer used to have. So, you can experience this adventure with a maximum of 5 other people.
