Can You Play Coral Island on Steam Deck? Settings and controls tips

Coral Island is a new farming game that has won the hearts of players, even though it is still in early access. Its format seems perfect for sitting on the couch and relaxing. That's why fans are wondering if it can be installed on Steam Deck. In this article, we will tell you how to do it.
Remember that the following solution is not official. Therefore, we cannot guarantee it will work in your case.
Install the latest version of Proton GE
Proton is the software that Valve uses to make games run on Steam Deck. Proton GE is an unofficial version of it that makes programs that don't work too well on the basic software run a little better.
Proton GE installation step by step:
- Enter Desktop Mode (hold Steam Deck’s power button, then select Switch to Desktop).
- Open Discover app store (blue bag icon).
- Search and install ProtonUp-Qt. Now run this program.
- Click “Add version” and select “ProtonGE”. Install it.
- You can close ProtonUp-QT and launch Steam.
- Find Coral Island in your library and open its Properties. In launch commands type: DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%.
- Now press Compatibility and check the box "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool”.

Graphics settings
The game should run stably if you play on Medium graphics settings. Also, set Anti-Aliasing: Temporal AA; while Temporal Upsampling: Off.
Controller layout
Due to the fact that there is no official support for Coral Island on Steam Deck, the game has controls that don't quite match. This should be changed.
Set your own controller layout:
- Go to the Coral Island card in your library.
- Press the controller icon on the right side of the page.
- Now select the tab at the very top of Current Layout.
- On the top right you will see the Community Layouts category. Press it.
- From the list, select: Coral Island Steam Deck Controller Scheme V1.
