Civilization 7 received major 1.1.0 update and its first DLC. However, players aren't returning to the new strategy
The big 1.1.0 update to Sid Meier's Civilization 7 is now available. Despite many changes, players show little interest.

As the developers of Civilization 7 assured in the "roadmap" published at the end of February, yesterday we received a significant 1.1.0 update, introducing numerous fixes and improvements to the gameplay. Fans who decided to purchase the more expensive edition of the game (Deluxe or Founders), can also start using the content of the Crossroads of the World DLC (it can also be purchased separately).

Firaxis Games studio has shared a list of updates for the PC and console versions of the game on their website - the changes for both platforms are detailed below. If you want to check the details, go directly to the developer's message.
- Units of explorers now cost more to slow down early attacks.
- Several artifacts from the Age of Exploration appear on every continent, making the competition for discoveries more strategic.
- You can now study the wonders of nature to acquire artifacts.
- Extra artifacts can be obtained by completing Future Civics.
- Additional improvements enhancing gameplay and AI.
- Napoleon can no longer reject sanctions for free.
- The sanctions can now be used in a "neutral relationship." Its cost will be lower when this relationship becomes more tense.

With the 1.1.0 update, paid content was introduced as part of the first phase of the Crossroads of the World expansion. Thanks to this DLC, fans received the English scholar Ada Lovelace as a leader, as well as two new civilizations: Great Britain and Carthage. Furthermore, four wonders of nature were added - Mount Fuji, Mount Machhapuchhare, Vinicunca Mountains, and Mount Vihren.
The patch 1.1.1 for Civilization 7 is scheduled for March 25, 2025. Then the players will receive another batch of fixes and improvements.
SteamDB statistics have not yet shown a significant return of players following the release of the update in question - the game continues to show a decline in the number of concurrently active users (with a peak of 27,558 yesterday) and still has fewer players than the previous installment in the series. This may change in the coming days or after the next patch.
