Dead by Daylight is almost nine years old. Over this time Behaviour Interactive has built an impressive killer and survivor rosters. Some of the characters were created by developers themselves and the rest are licensed from movies or other games. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that some content has to be removed. Why I'm writing about it? The answer is simple – this is the current situation of the The Hellraiser Chapter.

Hellraiser Chapter is leaving DBD

Yesterday a sad post appeared on Dead by Daylight X profile. It announces that The Hellraiser Chapter was officially removed from first party stores like Steam, Xbox or PS Store. Pinhead will also disappear from Nintendo Switch on March 13th and in-game store on April 4th. So, you have a month to buy this killer. There is good news also. He’s on sale right now.

So, what will happen afterwards? For those who purchased the DLC, not much will change. Pinhead will stay visible in the game, and you will be able to play him. His perks will still be available in his Bloodweb under their original names. However, you will not be able to purchase his cosmetics.

If you won’t buy Pinhead, he will simply disappear from your killers list, but you can still encounter him when you play as a survivor. It's not all bad, though. His perks will appear as general ones, available for all, but with the changed names. So, you can unlock them in the Bloodweb for any Killer. New players, who doesn’t have all Killers, should appreciate it. This gives them free access to really strong abilities.

Developers didn’t specify what happened. It’s pretty obvious that license agreement expired, but why? Even when DLC was released in 2021, Hellraiser was in a complicated situation. Park Avenue Entertainment lost a court case and Clive Barker, the IP creator, received the rights to the brand...only in the US. This chaos definitely doesn’t help when it comes to deal-making.

Of course, there is also a chance that The Hellraiser Chapter will come back sometime in the future. Such a situation has already occurred in the case of Stranger Things.
