After the successful Early Access period, which ended in August 2024, Core Keeper has not seen many significant updates. However, the developers from Pugstorm studio have not stopped working on their game, enriching the title with seasonal content. Recently, they have released the first major post-release patch named “Bags and Blasts”, adding numerous new items, magic, enemies, but also a new boss – Nimruza, Queen of the Burrowed Sands. Let’s take a closer look at this new adversary, which increases the challenge significantly. This creature is not only powerful and unique, when it comes to the roster of bosses in this production, but also compliments the lore, unveiling a tiny bit of its mysteries.

Nimruza enters the desert in Core Keeper

As promised at the end of 2024 in a Steam post, Pugstorm continues developing Core Keeper, staying true to the schedule. Developers presented a realistic timeframe for an indie company, and now we see its fruits. “Bags and Blasts” has been released recently, a major update that introduces many new features, drawing players back to check them out. For those who enjoy the challenge, there is a fresh fearsome enemy – Nimruza, Queen of the Burrowed Sands, which stalks the Desert of Beginnings.

The overgrown insect is a formidable foe that has been foreshadowed as far back as the game’s Early Access period. Now the story unravels slightly, letting us experience a battle with this legendary boss. Be careful, though, as it dwells deep within the Desert of Beginnings, guarded by her brood of super-cicadas. Its mechanical attacks are a result of twisted corruption that shows the loss of queen’s natural instincts and life-like behaviors. To take on the challenge, it is advised to come well-prepared, and even ask your friends for help to increase the odds.

We should keep an eye on Core Keeper, as it’s not the last thing that the creators have prepared for us this year. There is still a minor update coming later in spring, and next, still unnamed, major content patch announced for autumn. Have fun!
