Thousands of players appreciated efforts of one developer. Rogue: Genesia 1.0 with 92% positive reviews on Steam

Rogue: Genesia is far from the results of Vampire Survivors, but the developer of this bullet heaven title can't complain about the release of the full version of his game.

The release of Rogue: Genesia in version 1.0 turned out to be a success for its creator.

Ouadi Huard released his first game in early access in September 2022. It wasn't a hit on the scale of Slay the Spire or Vampire Survivors (from which the developer clearly drew inspiration), but having over 5,000 people playing at its peak and receiving more than 3,000 positive reviews in less than three months is still an excellent result for such a small title.

Of course, the solo development of the game - even with the support of the publisher, Gamersky Games (known for Greedland and Dice & Fold) - had to take some time. Or it rather should, because by the end of 2022, Rogue: Genesia received two major updates and a multitude of minor hotfixes. At the beginning of 2023, the developer mentioned the fan modifications.

The development of the game continued at its best for the next two years, and even during quieter periods, Huard remained in contact with fans. That's more than can be said for many projects on Steam Early Access.

Rogue: Genesia 1.0 a small hit on Steam

During this time, the player count didn't stay at its launch level, and for the majority of the time, a few hundred players were playing the game at the same time. Not that it was a bad result for a small single player game, but it was still a big drop.

That changed with the release of version 1.0. A new world of A rank and its expansion (as well as the B category) of survival mode, the run loop option, along with new cards, talents, and artifacts, have brought a lot of good for players and above all, it reminded them of the existence of the game.

The result of this was a new record for Rogue: Genesia on Steam: almost 6,000 people playing simultaneously. This result was achieved yesterday, 2 days after leaving early access. At the time of publishing this text, nearly 4,000 users were engaged with Huard's title simultaneously.

This is accompanied by consistently good ratings - although slightly weaker from the last 30 days. Nonetheless, out of almost 6,000 reviews, 92% are positive, and even the latest "worse" reviews give the game 85% "pros." Players appreciated the developer's activity, with some even going so far as to possibly overstate that it is among the best games in the bullet heaven genre (similar to Vampire Survivors).

Until March 21, Rogue: Genesia can be purchased for $9.89. If you're hesitant about purchasing, a free demo version is available on Steam.
