DB Sparking Zero - What If Guide, How to Unlock All Sparking Episodes
Sparking Episodes allow you to explore the alternative stories of iconic characters like Goku or Vegeta. This guide explains how to unlock them all.
Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is the latest release in the popular Dragon Ball series, which draws its roots from such popular installments as Budokai Tenkaichi. The production features a lot of unique warriors (some of them can be unlocked in Bonus Battles). Of course, it could not miss such iconic characters as Goku, Vegeta, or Gohan. These most famous heroes have Sparking Episodes, which are unique what-if scenarios. In this guide you will learn how to unlock them all (and some more problematic minor story alterations). We have added some minor what if stories to the guide, not solely big Sparking Episodes, as many players were puzzled by them. Keep that in mind.

How to Unlock Goku’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
- Chapter 1 – decide to help Piccolo in the mission “The Earth's Mightiest Duo”, then defeat Raditz as quickly as possible in the mission “Rematch and Result”. To do this, it's best to charge Sparking Mode and attack the enemy. Once you defeat Raditz, you will unlock the “Pushing The Limit” Arc.
- Chapter 1 – instead of joining forces with Piccolo, you have to fight Raditz on your own. As before, you must quickly defeat him to unlock more content.
- Chapter 2 – in Arrival on Planet Namek there is a small story alteration. While it is a minor one, many fans have problems with it, so we have prepared a guide. A short version is that you need to deflect the Jeice’s Crusher Ball attack or not.
- Chapter 3 – this is the culmination of the what-if story. In the mission “Hyperbolic Time Chamber,” you must help Piccolo fight Cell, and ultimately defeat Android 16.
- Chapter 4 – another minor story alteration is A New Power Awakens, but it is very frustrating for players, so we have prepared a separate guide. The main point is that you have to be very quick in defeating the opponent.
- Chapter 6 – In this chapter, there are two missions with minor branching paths which cause problems for players: The Truth about Zamasu and Into a Third future. There is a trick to both. Speed in the case of the first one, timing in the second one.
- Chapter 7 – the end of the adventure with Goku is near with Goku’s Strength episode. Learn how to unlock the what if ending.
How to Unlock Vegeta’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

- Chapter 2 – during the “Wind-Up Doll” mission, you will have to defeat Android 18 quickly, instead of surviving the fight. You will then unlock the “Parental Bond” Arc, in which, similar to before, you will have to defeat Super Trunks in a short time in the “Vegeta and Trunks” mission. - Chapter 3 – in the mission “Vegeta's Wicked Heart”, Babidi will try to take control of you. You must choose to shake it off and not let yourself be taken over. This will unlock the “Number One Spot” episode. If you don’t know how to do that, read our guide.
How to Unlock Gohan’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
- Chapter 3 – alternate ending of the episode called Unleashed Rage is one of the most mysterious ones.
- Chapter 5 – you must defeat Frieza's soldiers at a very fast pace and inflict as much damage on the antagonist himself as possible in the “Defend Earth from the Frieza Force!” mission. This will then unlock “The Strongest Warrior” Sparking Episode.
- Chapter 7 – Many players are confused about paths in Astonishing Team. There is an alternative ending here and it seems like the main path is finishing abruptly. Read our guide to learn more, but at the end – you need to be quick in defeating enemies and patiently wait for development of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.
How to Unlock Piccolo’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
During demanding matches dodging and sonic sway are crucial skills.
- Chapter 2 – in the mission “Piccolo Returns to his Birthplace”, defeat Frieza as fast as you can. This will grant you access to the “Piccolo's Struggle” mission. Not sure about details? Read our guide to learn more.
- Chapter 3 – when you are faced with the choice between helping Goku or watching his fight with Android 19 in the mission “Faint Unease,” choose to support him in the duel. Doing so will unlock the “A Mentor's Guidance” Arc.
- Chapter 3 – Minor branch to Android 17 mission is when you defeat the opponent quickly and without loosing much health.
How to Unlock Future Trunks’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
- Chapter 6 – After unlocking the “Twisted World” mission, defeat your opponents in the shortest possible time. This will give you access to the “Shining Hope” Arc, in which “all you have to do” is to win against your enemies.
- Chapter 6 – when doing the canon ending of Future Trunks arc, called “Trunks' Choice,” you must decide to stay with Vegeta. To progress the story even further, Defeat your father, Piccolo and Gohan quickly in To Become the Strongest in the Universe. This task is very difficult, so read out guide and if the it is too troublesome, use Dragon Orb.
- Chapter 7 - If you manage to win the fight above, in the mission “Father or Teamwork?” choose to follow Vegeta. Alternatively, when you are faced with the choice, choose to follow Gohan instead.
How to Unlock Frieza’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
Learn how to deflect beams, a useful skill during difficult fights.
- Chapter 5 – reach the “Frieza Revived” mission and defeat Goku and Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue Forms in quick succession. You will then unlock the “Frieza Force Joins The Fray” Arc. Before you start it for good, there is one more option to choose – who should accompany you. Each choice will progress the story and offer some unique fights.
How to Unlock Goku Black’s Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

- Goku Black’s Saga – in the mission “Act Three Begins” you must aim higher than survival, instead quickly defeat both Goku and Vegeta. Then you will unlock the “Proof of Justice” Sparking Episode mission.

- Jiren’s Saga – during the “Saiyan Rampage” mission, you have to wait and see what happens to Kale (yes, killing is not always a good choice).
