Blizzard Entertainment shared the results of the April alpha tests of Diablo II Resurrected. Numerous improvements have been made.
IN A NUTSHELL:
Yesterday, Blizzard Entertainment shared its learnings from the alpha tests of Diablo II: Resurrected. The developer has taken fans' comments to heart by introducing changes in the game's visual layer and some quality of life modifications. It seems that the developers do not want their newest remake to share the fate of Warcraft III: Reforged.
The developers have listened to the advice of fans regarding the visual effects of such spells as Lightning, Blizzard and Holy Freeze. Changes have been made to better reflect the spirit of the original and emphasize the destructive power of magic.
In addition, the effects of injuring and immobilizing enemies have been altered slightly in color, as requested by players.
The animations of the character returning to full strength are now better synchronized with the filling of health and mana orbs. Additionally, the color of many items has been strengthened to make them more legible.
It is now possible to switch between map and item name display modes via the interface. Equipment comparison has been improved as well.
In addition, the developers have decided to increase the number of tabs for the common cache to three (previously there was only one) and improve the readability of the auto map.
The developers also announced changes to increase the game's accessibility. These are to be more extensively described in a separate article.
In accordance with the wishes of players, the developers added the ability to display a clock. They also removed additional sound effects in the form of grunts and screams, corrected a significant shortcoming which was our character could be attacked while still in the loading screen when entering a hostile area. This is connected with another improvement, as the creators promise that the overall loading times will be shorter.
As announced by the developers, these are just some of the changes that have been introduced. Note, however, that they are not final - the creators emphasize that work on the game is still ongoing.
We'll be able to see these new features in August, because that's when the game's beta will start. At the beginning it will be limited to the players who pre-ordered the game and then it will be available for the rest of the fans.
